The Women Police on Tuesday arrested a village panchayat secretary in connection with a case of sexual assault, sexual harassment and criminal intimidation.
According to the complaint, the incident took place at around 12.15 am on March 20, 2025. The accused allegedly sexually assaulted and harassed the woman by touching her inappropriately without her consent, thereby outraging her modesty. Based on the complaint, a case was registered and the accused was arrested.
The complainant further stated that when she questioned the accused about a false complaint allegedly filed by him at the Panaji police station, he threatened to damage her reputation by filing more false cases against her.
The police have withheld the identities of both the complainant and the accused as the investigation is ongoing.
