WAR IN GULF
Parish activities have been suspended until further notice at churches in Kuwait, amid escalations in war across the Gulf.
In a pastoral message, Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia Aldo Berardi appealed for prayers and to take all necessary precautions.
“In this time of uncertainty, I ask all the faithful of the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia to remain calm, united in prayer, and attentive to the safety of everyone. Please follow carefully the instructions of the civil authorities and take all necessary precautions in your homes, workplaces, and parishes,” stated Bishop Berardi.
“I also direct all parish priests and rectors to take appropriate action and to make the necessary decisions, with prudence and responsibility, to ensure the safety of the faithful entrusted to their care. Let us remain united in faith and charity, caring especially for the elderly, the sick, and the vulnerable.”
“Should any changes to parish activities become necessary, you will be informed through official channels. May the Lord protect you and your families, and may Our Lady of Arabia, our mother, watch over us all,” he added.
When contacted, Fr Gaspar Fernandes, the Goan Parish Priest of Holy Family Co-Cathedral in Kuwait City, confirmed that the Co-cathedral has been closed for prayers. He stated that a Holy Mass was celebrated at the Holy Family Co-Cathedral to pray for peace and harmony in the Gulf region.
