PANAJI:
The battered and pot-holed streets of Panaji finally got attention from the authorities in several parts of the city on Saturday.
Workers were seen patching up the roads using pre-mix cold tar and road-rollers were used to level up the patch up work.
Many sections of the streets around the CCP Market were patched up.
Meanwhile, labourers continued to work on the foot-paths which had been left incomplete when the 'smart city' work had been halted for the monsoon.
An official of the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) said, efforts are on to finish lining all the footpaths with interlocking tiles before the start of this year's edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on November 20.
"Only a few spots on some of the footpaths where service cables have to be laid and some underground work is still left to be completed may remain," the official said.
