Pedestrian injured in road mishap at Verna

A pedestrian was injured after being knocked down by a motorcycle at Matol-Verna on September 9 at around 7.15 pm.

Police said the accident occurred when the accused rider, identified as Ruban Silva of Chandrawaddo, Fatorda, was proceeding from Pirni Verna towards Margao.

On reaching near Garden Auto Care on the Western Bypass Road, Matol, he allegedly rode his motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against pedestrian Sebastiao Fernandes of Matol-Verna, who was crossing the road to proceed towards the Garden Auto Care workshop.

The impact caused Fernandes to fall on the road and sustain injuries. He was later shifted for medical attention.

Verna police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 125 (a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation is being conducted by Head Constable Sudeshkumar Desai of Verna Police Station, under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar.
