Pedestrian killed in Guirim mishap

MAPUSA

A 64-year-old woman from St Anthonywada-Guirim was killed after she was knocked down by a motorcycle at Guirim on Friday evening.

According to Mapusa police, the incident took place at about 4.15 pm when Rajani Bharat Dhargalkar was crossing the highway to proceed to her home.

She was knocked down by a motorcycle driven by Laxmidhar Gadadhar Biswal (23), a native of Odisha but residing at Panaji.

The severely injured woman was later shifted to the Mapusa District Hospital, from where she was referred to the GMC hospital at Bambolim. She died while undergoing treatment.

Mapusa police has registered a case against the motorcycle rider and investigations are in progress.
