The father of a two-wheeler rider has been booked by Canacona police after his minor son, who rode a two-wheeler, was involved in a fatal mishap that killed a woman pedestrian at Bhatpal on Sunday night.
Canacona police booked the resident of Ghodkamolem-Poinguinim as the accused owner of the scooter, for allowing his underaged child to ride the scooter from Bhatpal towards Sadolxem in a rash and negligent manner, while taking a pillion rider.
After crossing the Ordhofond Bridge at Bhatpal, the minor scooter rider knocked down a pedestrian, Chandrakala Naik of Ordhofond. Both riders along with the scooter fell on the road.
Both the minor rider and pillion rider of the scooter sustained injuries, while Naik sustained grievous injuries in the mishap. They were shifted to the CHC, Canacona, where Naik succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at CHC, Canacona.
The scooter owner was held responsible for permitting an under-aged child to ride his scooter.
Canacona police registered the case under sections 125(a), 281, 106(1) of BNS and also Sections 3, 4, 5 and 180 of MV Act. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Ajit Ajit Velip of Canacona police
