MARGAO
The government’s plan to spruce up the South Goa Administrator of Comunidade building at an estimated cost of Rs 2.11 crore seemed to have not found takers to execute the job.
The PWD was scheduled to open the e-tender on Thursday as per the tender specifications. A senior PWD official, however, told The Goan that the date for submission for bids has been extended by a fortnight since the response from the bidders for the project has been less.
Left with no option, the PWD official said the PWD will have to wait for the next 15 days to find out whether bidders evince interest in the execution of the work for the repairs and maintenance of the building.
While the PWD had floated the e-tender to execute the work of the 60-year-old building, a prominent landmark in the commercial capital craving for attention, the project had courted an unsavoury row after the components of comunidades bitterly resented the government’s decision to tender project without taking them into confidence.
