The Colva police along with Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Friday conducted a mock drill at the Colva Residency to beef up security in and around the world-famous Colva beach ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The Colva police station, which has jurisdiction over the entire Salcete coastal belt, right from Cavelossim to Majorda, has still not received additional reinforcements in view of the ensuing festivities.
Sources pointed out that the Colva police station led by police station in-charge, PI Theron D’Costa and ATS personnel conducted a mock drill at the Colva Residency as part of the arrangements to tighten security at the beach belt.
The police also conducted a mock drill near the beach belt as part of the efforts to make its presence in public places.
Sources, however, said that the additional police force needs to be sent to Colva given that thousands of people, including domestic tourists, who throng Colva to celebrate Christmas and usher in the New Year.
