Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Margao, DySP Sidhant Shirodkar has recommended to the district authorities stringent action under Section 29C (1) of the Goa Public Health Act against the spa at Colva, which was allegedly involved in prostitution activities.
In his report to the authorities, DySP Shirodkar submitted that during the raid on the Spa on October 7 with the assistance of a decoy customer and NGO representatives, five victims were rescued who were found to have been induced and forced into prostitution by the accused Radhika Sharma (age 43 years).
The accused was apprehended on the spot and an offence was registered vide AIITU Margao Cr.No.02/2025, u/s 143 BNS and Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the ITP Act, 1956.
Calling for stringent action under Section 29C(1) of the Goa Public Health Act, the SDPO Margao pointed out that the provision empowers the competent authorities to seal and permanently close any premises used in a manner injurious to public health, safety, or morals.
“It is recommended that the spa at Colva be sealed and permanently closed to prevent further immoral and unlawful activities,” the report stated.
Meanwhile, the Benaulim Block Congress committee led by President Keith Gracias has lodged a formal complaint with the Colva police on the ongoing prostitution, human trafficking and extortion rackets in Benaulim constituency.
Referring to the October 7 police raid, Gracias said these incidents are not isolated, and there is growing concern among local residents about the unchecked spread of such illegal activities, especially in areas frequented by tourists.
