Stolen devices worth Rs 13 lakh
Goa Police handed over 55 recovered mobile phones to their rightful owners following an intensive effort to trace stolen and misplaced mobile devices. The total value of the recovered handsets is estimated at around Rs 13 lakh.
The phones were retrieved within the last month, though several complaints were filed months ago, with a few dating back more than a year.
Director General of Police Alok Kumar said the police have stepped up efforts to track lost phones through national-level databases and technical support systems.
“We continuously monitor lost phone complaints and their possible recovery. We ensure the devices are returned to their rightful owners. Many of these phones are traced in different parts of the country, making it a challenging job,” he said while addressing the media during a function to hand over the phones at police headquarters on Monday.
He added that beyond the monetary value, the recovery holds significance due to personal and professional data stored in the devices. The police personnel, who assisted in the recovery of these phones, were also rewarded at the function.
