Policeman ends life in Sattari

VALPOI

A policeman attached to the Valpoi police station ended his life at his home in Sattari on Wednesday evening. Sandeep Zarmekar left behind a suicide note which allegedly indicated that he had been suffering from harassment.

According to sources, Zarmekar had been transferred to the Valpoi police station only a few months ago. 

He had been admitted to the Valpoi Community Health Centre two days ago and was discharged on Wednesday evening. Zarmekar ended his life at his residence in Sattari at about 4 pm.

After conducting the panchanama, police sent the body to GMC Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

On receiving news of his death, senior police officers rushed to the Valpoi police station and later visited his residence to interact with family members.

While details in the suicide note have not been disclosed, sources claimed Zarmekar is believed to have complained about harassment.
