The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticised the BJP in Goa, accusing it of repeating old, unfulfilled promises after 14 years in power. The remarks come as Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Goa to campaign for BJP candidate Ritesh Ravi Naik in the Ponda by-election.
AAP State President Valmiki Naik, along with other party leaders, said the BJP’s latest manifesto reflects years of neglect.
“Bringing Fadnavis here shows the failure of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant,” Naik said, pointing to the unrepaired ID Hospital, ongoing water issues, damaged roads, and neglected drainage and sewerage systems.
General Secretary Surel Tilve criticised the leadership, urging Fadnavis to visit Panditwada and see the water problems faced by residents. “People of Ponda deserve an apology, not repeated promises,” he said.
AAP highlighted several civic issues, including pothole-ridden roads, irregular garbage collection, poorly maintained gardens, and neglect of facilities like the Old City Bus Stand and Indira Market, which they said receive attention only during elections.
Pending projects such as the Khandepar Joggers Park, sports grounds, and hospital upgrades were also raised. The party said these should have been completed long ago but are now being presented again as new promises.
AAP also alleged “match-fixing” between the BJP and Congress, claiming their rivalry is misleading voters.
The party urged people to demand accountability and not be swayed by what it called recycled assurances.
