Ponda vendors’ help sought

The Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) on Friday sought support from business houses, shopkeepers and vendors to shut their businesses on February 26 as part of their support to the Goa bandh.   

GMPF members also called on Ponda Municipal Council Chairperson Pradeep Naik and submitted a memorandum seeking the PMC’s support to the Goa bandh.   

In its last meeting on February 14, the GMPF had decided to observe a one-day bandh in the mining belt on February 26 and had appealed to non-mining areas all over the State to support them.   

GMPF said it was also aware of the school exams.   

When contacted, President of Dharbandora Taluka Truck Owners Association Vinayak alias Balaji Gauns told The Goan they have got very good response from Ponda and other parts of the State.   

“We have appealed to the people to support us in our efforts,” he said.
