Poriem Block Cong demands extension of time to submit Alvara documents

VALPOI

The Poriem Block Congress has demanded extension of time for people to submit documents regarding the ownership of Alvara land.

The block congress unanimously passed a resolution at a special meeting on Saturday evening near the Pandurang Devasthan at Sakhali and it will be forwarded to the minister concerned on Monday.

According to sources, the Poriem Block Congress convened a special meeting headed by local MLA and former chief minister Pratapsing Rane and those present included ZP member Fati Gaonkar, Congress block working president Sagun Wadkar, Thane Sarpanch Sarita Gaonkar, Bhironda Sarpanch Nitin Shivdekar, Poriem

Sarpanch Balakrishna Mhalshekar and members of other panchayats.

Sagun Wadkar said the Alvara land issue is a serious issue regarding ownership of land in Sattari taluka. He said the government has directed all Alvara land holders to furnish their documents by November 11 in order to get their ownership rights.

Wadkar claimed that since these directions have not reached the rural areas, many Alvara landholders may be unaware and may not furnish their documents in time.

Wadkar put forth a resolution demanding an extension in the time period to furnish documents and it was seconded by ZP member Fati Gaonkar and passed unanimously.

Fati Gaonkar said over 50% of the land was Alvara in Sattari taluka, adding that locals have been fighting for their ownership rights for several years.

Minister has agreed to extend deadline: Rane

VALPOI: Poriem MLA and former chief minister Pratapsing Rane said he had a telephonic conversation with Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte and added that the minister had agreed to extend the deadline by six months.

Speaking at the gathering, Rane said land ownership is the birthright of every son of the soil from Sattari. “The government has implemented the policy to give them their birthright but the time given to submit documentation is very less.”

It is not that we want to start mining just now or tomorrow. The point is mining has to start and for that reason, curative legislation has to come,” Cabral said.  The power minister was speaking to…
