PORVORIM Sainath. After giving a patient hearing, PI Dalvi sent Sainath Amrekar (25) to Mapusa District Hospital for a medical check. Speaking to The Goan, Sainath said: "Porvorim Police had called me to the police station on October 24, at 4 pm in connection with the complaint filed against me by one person. Accordingly, I along with my friend reported at the police station at 4.30 pm." "The investigating officer asked my friend to leave the room. Thereafter, he locked the room from inside and slapped me on the face in the presence of the complainant and threatened me with dire consequences. He wrote down some matter on a plain sheet of paper and forcibly obtained my signature," claimed Sainath. Geeta Amrekar said since her son Sainath, who had gone to Porvorim Police station at 4 pm, did not return home till 8 pm, she filed a missing complaint at Porvorim Police station on October 24 late night. "My son returned home at about 3 am and was distraught. He narrated the treatment he had received by the Porvorim police. I want the police to take action against the investigating officer for assaulting my son, failing which I will take up the matter with higher authorities," said Amrekar. PI Dalvi said he received the complaint and has sent Sainath for a check and is awaiting the report.
