Postal ballots for voters aged 85-plus, PwDs on March 29-31

Senior citizens above 85 years of age and persons with disability will cast their votes for the Ponda bye-polls for three days, from March 29-31.

Returning Officer for Ponda Assembly constituency, Pandurang Talgaonkar has on Thursday issued a notification notifying the schedule for voting by Absentee voters, comprising of senior citizens above 85 years of age and persons with disability flagged in the database for electoral roll.

Voting for the two categories will take place on March 29-31 from 9 am to 5 pm.

As per the guidelines issued by the  Election Commission of India, New Delhi, these two categories of Absentee Voters (AV), have been given the facility of voting through Postal Ballot paper:

The office of Returning Officer, Ponda has received duly filled Form 12-D from AVSC and APVD voters.

Separate polling teams will be visiting the registered address as given in Form 12D of the absentee voters in the two categories.

In another notification, Returning officer Pandurang T. Talgaonkar  has said that Voters on Election duty who have opted for Postal Ballot (PB) facility and duly applied in form-12 to the Returning Officer by March 27 will have to cast their vote on the specified dates at the respective Facilitation Centre at the Court room, office of Mamlatdar Ponda, 3rd floor, government complex building, Ponda.

The following categories of Electors on Election Duty, have been given the facility of voting through Postal Ballot paper, including Polling Parties,  Officials on Election Duty: Senior Magistrates, Flying Squad, ARO, AERO and other election related staff like private persons and Non-Government staff engaged in election work on the day of Poll, besides Police Personnel, Goa IRB and Home Guards on Election duty.

Voting through Postal Ballots will take place on March 29, 30 and 31 at the facilitation centre.
