Public Works Department Minister Digambar Kamat has on Saturday said that potholes on roads brought to the notice of the department will be repaired and removed within 24 hours.

He further said that the owners of the two hot mix plants have assured him to resume operations by September end, which will pave the way for the hot mixing of the roads.

In his reply to the felicitation programme organised by the well wishers of Ward No 21 of Margao Municipal Council  and Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar at Aquem on Saturday, the PWD Minister said he had issued strict instructions to the PWD officials to take cognisance of media reports on potholes and repair the same within 24 hours. “People of Goa can bring the pot holes to his notice or the notice of the PWD officials via phones or on WhatsApp. Be rest assured the potholes will be repaired within 24 hours”, he asssued.

Kamat informed that he has told Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that he would like to inspect both the hot mix plants to ensure they resume operations by September end. “The owners of the hot mix plants have assured to start the operations by September end. Normally, the hot mix plants used to start operations in October because of rains”, he said.

Reassuring Madgavkars that he would use his position for the good of the people, Kamat said blessings of Lord Dambab and the people of Margao have helped him to serve the society better.

Reminding that he was adjudged as the most accessible Chief Minister in the country during his stint as Goa CM between 2007-12, Kamat said he is accessible to the people 24x7 even today.

He added: “Power or not has  not made any difference to Digambar Kamat in the last 13 years. But with power, I can work with more authority and usher in faster work”.
