MARGAO
Power infrastructure in Fatorda is set for a major upgrade, with plans in place to meet the area’s power needs for the next 10 years.
The inauguration of the upgraded power transformer at the sub-station near Nehru Stadium in Fatorda took place on Monday. Senior power official, Superintending Engineer Rajeev Sawant, announced that Fatorda will receive uninterrupted power supply for the next month from the Cuncolim sub-station. He also stated that work on the Rs 51 crore underground cabling project from Cuncolim to Fatorda is currently underway and will be completed within a month.
In addition, Sawant revealed that the power department has secured a 4000-square-metre plot of land at Sonsodo, acquired by the Margao Municipal Council.
Pointing out that Fatorda is located next to Margao, the commercial capital of Goa, Sawant explained that the upgraded power infrastructure will not only meet current demands but also ensure reliable power supply for the next decade.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, in his address, recalled his campaign promise to improve Fatorda’s infrastructure during the last election. “I am pleased that we have managed to enhance the power infrastructure, which will support future needs as well,” he said.
