MARGAO
Undeterred by the Government’s decision to relieve him from the charge of Executive engineer, Div XVIII, Aquem-Margao, Senior power official Kashinath Shetye has issued seven day’s notice on the owners of the five gaddas to remove the structures from the footpath near the Aquem Power House.
Shetye has issued the notice in his capacity as Nodal Officer, Land Acquisition, Executive Engineer Civil Div- XV, Patto, issuing directions for the removal of unauthorized stalls/shops obstructing the premises of the Electricity Department, Aquem, Margao as per the High Court Orders.
What’s significant about the latest notice issued by Kashinath Shetye is his request to the Margao Municipal Chief Officer to issue Show Cause Notice/Order to the five stalls and demolish the encroachment within 7 days. Failing which, Shetye has threatened to bring the matter to the notice of the High Court for deemed action against the CO, including imprisonment.
That’s not all. The senior power official has requested the Director of Urban Development, Panaji to assume powers of Chief Officer, Margao Muncipal Council and issue Show Cause Notice/Order to the five parties and demolish the encroachment within seven days.
Shetye’s initiative to get the encroachments removed from the footpath near the Aquem power house had ended in a controversy after the department summarily removed the additional Charge he was holding of Division XVIII after his action.
The senior power offical has vowed to take his initiative to the logical conclusion by taking the matter to the High Court in the event the officials succumb to political pressure and refuse to remove the encroachments.
