In an interesting development in the two-decade old Power rebate scam case, summons issued by the court to two witnesses has returned unserved with reports that the two persons have retired and their whereabouts are not known.
That’s not all. Court summons issued to another witness to depose in the case has returned with a report that the witness has expired. This is not the first time that summons issued to prosecution witness have returned back with reports their whereabouts are unknown indicating that the huge delay in disposing of the two-decade old case has taken a toll on the witnesses.
Meanwhile, Sessions Judge Irshad Agha, the Judge designated by the High Court to try criminal cases pending against politicians, has on Friday ordered issuance of summons to 10 more witnesses in connection with the case.
Former Power Minister Mauvin Godinho was not present in the court since he is under permanent exemption from appearing in the case.
