PANAJI
Clearing the misunderstanding, Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said electricity is being supplied to industries for commercial purposes at Rs 12.50 per unit due to a power shortage, and the rate does not apply to consumers. He urged people not to “do mix bhaji” while discussing the issue.
Speaking at a press conference during the ‘Sarkar Tumchya Dari’ programme at Vidyut Bhavan, Panaji, Dhavalikar said “The rate of Rs 12.50 per unit would be applicable for 25 days, while the remaining power would be supplied at Rs 8.50 per unit.”
Dhavalikar also said electricity-related accidents had reduced. He said the department’s executive engineers and assistant engineers oversee the installation of generators, solar systems and streetlights and address related issues. He added that grievances among engineers and electricity department staff had also declined.
When asked about rooftop solar panel installations, Dhavalikar said “The state had installed rooftop solar systems and other facilities with a capacity of 123 MW. The capacity would continue to increase and would double by 2036.”
