The revised power tariff that was notified by the State government on April 27 has come into force on May 1.
The Join Electricity regulatory Commission (JERC) had notified the hike in power tariff in its order dated March 31, 2022 based on the petition filed by the electricity department as per procedure outlined under Section 61, 62 and 64 of the Electricity Act 2003.
As per order, the Commission has approved an average tariff hike of 1.58 per cent.
The hike in the domestic consumer slab ranges from 10 to 25 paise per unit as well as a hike in all other categories of electricity.
There is also fixed charges based on connected load for all domestic and commercial slabs.
The rate for domestic consumers has been hiked by 10 paise per unit for a slab of 0-100. Similarly, tariffs for others slabs have also been hiked.
There will also be monthly fixed charges of Rs 20 per KW.
Tariff for establishments, public lighting, hoarding and signboards has also been increased.
It may be recalled that Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar few days back had hinted of the hike.
