Preparations for Assembly   polls gather momentum 2027 poll preparedness meeting chaired by South Goa district Egna Cleetus.

The South Goa district election authorities has set in motion preparations for the Goa Legislative Assembly Election scheduled in 2027.

The First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) is scheduled from August 3, in South Goa District and from August 17 in Kushavati District.

This was decided at a meeting was chaired by Egna Cleetus, IAS, Collector, & District Election Officer (DEO) South Goa District, H/c Kushavati District Administration, in the presence of Srinet Kothwale, Additional Collector-I, and Ramesh Gaonkar, Additional Collector-II, South Goa ,H/c Kushavati District.   

The meeting was attended by the designated Nodal Officers responsible for various election-related activities, including Law & Order, EVM Management, Manpower Management, Training, Material Management, SVEEP, the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), IT Applications, Postal Ballots, Election Expenditure, Strong Room & Counting, Medical Facilities, Accessible Elections, Transport Management, Communication Plan and other key areas.     

During the meeting, the concerned Nodal Officers were directed to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made well in advance for the First Level Checking of EVMs.

It was further discussed that the District Election Management Plan (DEMP) shall be finalised by July 2026, and the concerned Nodal Officer shall decide the modalities and timeline for its publication.

The training programme for poll personnel is proposed to be conducted tentatively in the month of September 2026, and necessary preparations shall be undertaken accordingly. Further, the Nodal Officer for Observer Coordination was directed to ensure timely submission of arrival reports and other required reports. The submission of requirements of election materials shall be completed tentatively by  August 2026. The layout and arrangements of the Strong Room were also discussed during the meeting, and necessary action shall be taken accordingly.
