Details complex engineering challenges faced

BELAGAVI
A technical talk by Dr Gali Madhavi Latha, Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, was held in the Silver Jubilee Auditorium of KLS Gogte Institute of Technology (GIT), Belagavi.
In her keynote address, Prof Latha shared insights from her extensive professional journey and elaborated on her pivotal role in the construction of the world-famous Chenab Bridge — the highest railway arch bridge globally, constructed over the Chenab River in Jammu & Kashmir.
She detailed the complex engineering challenges faced during the execution of the project and discussed the innovative solutions employed to overcome them.
She also encouraged students to pursue competitive examinations to expand their professional horizons and contribute meaningfully to the field of engineering.
The programme began with an invocation, followed by welcome address by Governing Council Chairman Rajendra Belgaumkar. Prof Nitin Deshpande introduced the chief guest, outlining her notable contributions to civil engineering, infrastructure development, and her extensive academic accomplishments.
Members of Institution of Engineers (India), practicing engineers, academicians, students from neighbouring engineering colleges, as well as students and faculty of KLS GIT.
Dr Latha was felicitated jointly by KLS GIT and the Institution of Engineers (India), Belagavi Local Chapter. Dr V R Chate proposed vote of thanks.
