MARGAO
The South Goa district administration on Tuesday prohibited the transportation and entry of birds and eggs from Maharashtra and Karnataka in the South Goa district in view of the avian flu cases in these two states.
In an order issued under section 144 of the Cr PC, Additional Collector Surendra Naik has warned that violators of the order will be dealt with under section 188 of the IPC.
In his order, Naik said he is of the considered opinion after perusing the facts brought to light by the Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services that there is a serious risk to the health of the people in South Goa district if the transportation and entry of birds and eggs from Maharashtra and Karnataka are not stopped forthwith.
