Mapusa police book 2 locals for, trespass and public nuisance
Mapusa Police have registered a case of assault, criminal trespass and public nuisance following an alleged late-evening altercation in Moira village on Sunday.
According to a complaint filed by Sunil Dahiya, a resident of Moira, the incident took place around 7 pm on March 1 near his home.
Dahiya alleged that two local residents – identified as Suryakant Bhogan and Suryanath Bhogan, both from Calizor, Moira – were consuming alcohol in an open public place and creating a disturbance.
In his complaint, Dahiya stated that the accused allegedly abused him and his friends, including women in the group, using obscene language and threatening them with serious consequences while they were walking along the public road.
He further alleged that the behaviour of the accused amounted to insulting the modesty of the women present.
When he intervened, Dahiya claimed that one of the accused assaulted him. The situation reportedly worsened when both accused allegedly entered his residential premises without permission and banged on the main door, threatening to kill him and making gestures suggesting further assault.
Police said an offence has been registered under Sections 270 (public nuisance), 352 (assault), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), 79, 115(2), 333 and 131 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Police have issued notices to both accused under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), directing them to join the investigation.
