A complaint with the Vigilance department has been filed against three officials of the Public Works Department including the Principal Chief Engineer (PCE) Uttam Parsekar alleging favouritism in departmental promotions and misuse of official powers for personal gains.

The complainant Lata Dessai has also named Director and Deputy Director of Administration (PWD) Gaurish Kurtikar and Prakash Redka.

Interestingly, the Vigilance department in a communication to PCE, has directed him to verify the allegations, incidentally, levied against him, and submit a report within 15 days.

“I am directed to request you (PCE) to verify the allegations made in the complaint and submit factual report along with the relevant documents to the Vigilance within 15 days,” Vigilance Officer Archana Chodankar said in the letter stating that the directions are issued following approval from the Chief Secretary.

Sources in the Vigilance department confirmed that directive is a preliminary step before deciding whether to initiate a formal inquiry. The department is expected to review Parsekar’s report before taking further action.
