In a bid to generate local employment the State cabinet on Wednesday approved a scheme by which small PWD contracts of up to Rs 5 lakhs and Rs 10 lakhs will be allotted to local diploma and degree holding engineers.
The scheme - Chief Minister Rozgar Yojna (CMRY) for engineering professionals - - was approved by the cabinet at its Wednesday meeting.
The local engineers will have to win the contracts via competitive bidding.
The engineers, who have to be below 35 years of age to be eligible will also be provided loans through EDC to meet capital needs to execute the contracts.
