Officials of the PWD, Roads played truant at a joint inspection of the Belem Junction, Navelim fixed on Friday on road engineering.
The joint inspection by the monitoring cell of the District Road Safety Committee was fixed on Friday after the issues on road engineering had figured at the District Road Safety Committee meeting held earlier this week at the district Collectorate chaired by South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes.
As per the schedule, DySP Traffic Rajendra Prabhudesai, Margao Traffic Cell PI Sanjay Dalvi, GOACAN Secretary Lorna Fernandes and an official of the Transport department all descended at the Belem junction. The joint inspection, however could not take place in the absence of officials of the PWD, Roads.
Lorna Fernandes has lamented that the PWD officials were conspicuous by their absence, adding that the inspection could not move forward in the absence of the PWD officials. “We have noticed certain discrepancies, including the traffic signal lights and other issues. We need to look at the entire issue in a holistic manner. We will note down the discrepancies in the road engineering and the same will be discussed at the joint inspection with PWD officials,” Lorna added.
