Public Works Minister Digambar Kamat has said he would direct PWD officials to conduct a study how best to link the commercial capital to the western bypass as part of the city decongestion plan.

He, however, hastened to add that he has told PWD officials to prepare a report to explore the possibility of connecting the western bypass at Pedda-Benaulim to the area near the Vidya Vikas Mandal’s educational campus.

“Hundreds of vehicles enter the city to drop their wards to the schools and colleges run by the VVM. If the government finds a way out with a road connecting the campus and the adjoining area to the western bypass at Pedda, the Comba-Khareband area of the city can get big relief”, he said.

Similarly, Kamat said he will direct  PWD officials to conduct the study how best to link the Fatorda area of the city to the western bypass so that traffic heading to Panjim or south Goa does not enter the city.
