The private jetty project at Malim featured prominently among a host of other issues such as stray dogs, collection of garden waste, illegal structures by the roadsides, bus service which were discussed at gram sabha held on Sunday at Nana Nani Park, Porvorim.
The sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar said that Inland waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has granted digital NOC to Marina India Infrastructure Pvt India for setting up the private Jetty at Malim but the panchayat has not received any information about this project from IWAI nor is the panchayat aware of where this project is being set up.
The panchayat had written a letter to Captain of Ports to enquire whether they have issued any permission to IWAI for this project. The captain of Ports replied in the negative and in turn they wrote a letter to IWAI to enquire where the said project is being set up .However Captain of Ports have so far not received any reply, said Chodankar. After a discussion, the resolution was adopted saying that Panchayat should not grant any permission for the said private jetty project at Malim.
The villagers mentioned that stray dogs menace is increasing in various areas of Porvorim and hence demanded that large scale sterilization and vaccination programmes are required.
The sarpanch mentioned that the sterilization and vaccination programmes have already taken by the government.
The villagers sought to know how many illegal structures panchayat has identified for demolition as per the direction of Highcourt. The sarpanch mentioned that the panchayat has identified 79 illegal structures by the side of roads in Penha de Franca area and communicated the same to Deputy collector.
The sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar mentioned that collection of garden waste had become a headache for the panchayat. The residents cut the unwanted trees and coconut tree and throws the waste by the side of the road .he panchayat is forced to collect the same. The villagers mentioned that the panchayat should charge the residents who throw this waste at the rate of Rs 1,000 per truck and a resolution to this effect was adopted.
The chairman of Biodiversity committee Mr.Ganpat Siddhye mentioned that Santeri lake should be declared as Heritage site . He also mentioned that the cutting of trees is going in Penha de Franca panchayat in large scale and requested panchayat to stop this cutting of trees.
The villagers mentioned that internal roads have been dug by electricity department all over Penha de Franca panchayat area for laying electric cables. These roads need to be tarred before the onset of monsoon said villagers.
