VASCO
The miseries of Vasco fire station seems to be unending. While the fire officers have no office for the last several years -- forcing them to work from a 100 sq mtrs congested area including barracks and struggling to work without most fire safety equipment like fire suits, safety nets and fire hooks -- the 100 sq mtr Vasco fire station was on Monday paid a visit by an unusual visitor, a huge python who apparently even feasted on a dog from the area near the fire officer’s quarters.
The sight of the python with an animal inside him has created an environment of fear and panic amongst the residents who have now appealed to the Mormugao Municipal council (MMC) to desilt the nullah in the area and also cut the thick vegetation that has grown in and around the fire station area.
The residents have begun fearing for the safety of children in the area, especially the ones who are living right behind the fire station -- in the fire department quarters. Sources said that the python was spotted in the neighborhood of the fire station while moving slowly towards the fire station through grass.
