Raia ZP member and ST leader Gaonkar joins AAP

Aam Aadmi Party continues to grow as prominent ST leader and sitting Zilla Parishad Member from Raia, Curtorim Dominic Gaonkar joined the party on Monday in the presence of AAP Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre.

Welcoming him, Mhambre stated that it is indeed a proud moment as a three-time sitting Zilla Parishad member is joining us. “Dominic Gaonkar is a prominent leader in Goa and needs no introduction. He has done a lot of work at Raia constituency and has won the seat for three consecutive terms. His entry in AAP has given a huge boost to the youth and the grassroot level members of our party,” Mhambre said.

Gaonkar is well known in Raia for his work for the welfare of common Goans. He provides free harvest machines to the farmers of Raia. Gaonkar is the Director of the Scheduled Tribes corporation of Goa. He is well known in Raia, Loutolim and Camurlim for his social work. He has helped many Goemkars with problems in medical and education Sectors. Apart from being a three time ZP he also stood for Assembly elections in Curtorim in 2012.

Gaonkar joined the party as he was impressed by Arvind Kejriwal's vision for Goa and the Kejriwal model. He hailed Aam Aadmi Party’s work in Delhi especially in the education and health sector. He stated his confidence in Kejriwal’s guarantees as Kejriwal has performed on those quarters in Delhi whether it is Water, Health, education, electricity or Jobs.

“I have taken this step after observing the AAP and seeing the work that has been done by the party both for Goans where they don’t have a single MLA and in Delhi where they have a Govt. It is very clear that this party is working for the betterment of the common Goemkar. There has been a mass movement from all across the state to support the Aam Aadmi Party today. AAP’s Rozgar Yatra has highlighted the true problems of Goan Youth in getting jobs” said Dominic Gaonkar.

“The pandemic has hit the common Goan very hard. The farmers have suffered yet the Govt does not provide harvesting machines to them. It is time we had a Govt that worked for all Goans and this can only be done via AAP,” added Gaonkar
