Rains bring respite from heat but brings woes for Panaji

About an hour of rain on Saturday morning and most city roads, including the 18 June Road, Atmaram Borkar Road and intermittent stretches of the MG Road were flooded with near knee-deep water. 


The Smart City works, which the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited claims is nearly complete did not reflect in the pre monsoon rains. 


So also, Rua de Ourem and the roads encircling the KTC bus-stand were inundated.


In St Inez and further west towards Tonca and Miramar too several of the roads and internal lanes and bylanes were affected. 


Being weekend, vehicular traffic and pedestrian movement was drastically thinner and there were no major complaints of disruptions atleast till sometime back. Some parts, connecting adjoining areas, however witnessed vehicular traffic
