SANGUEM
The Government Primary School at Mushcavrem in Rivona-Sanguem is currently inundated with water as the contractor has reportedly left the rooftop exposed.
The school, which previously had a tiled roof, was undergoing a replacement project to install roof sheets after the department had issued a tender.
According to agitated parents, the rooftop was opened on the last day of school in April, and the contractor had already placed the metal poles for the new roof sheets.
However, recent heavy rains across the State resulted in significant water damage to the school building, including books, electrical equipment, cupboards, and other materials.
Parents expressed anger that the contractor had failed to take precautionary measures, such as covering the rooftop with a tarpaulin, which could have prevented this extensive damage.
The PTA members have urged the education department to rectify the situation and replace all damaged materials within the school before the upcoming academic year begins.
