The Cuncolim Block Congress has said that Late Rajiv Gandhi has left indelible footprints heralding the new technological age of Information Technology.
The South Goa District Committee also observed the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister at the district office. “Rajiv Gandhi’s entry into active politics gave the qualitative spin to Education and Human Resource Development in India. A number of initiatives spearheaded by Rajivji could be truly termed as the first set of economic reforms towards liberalisation,” said Congress leader Yuri Alemao, while speaking at the function organised by Cuncolim Block Congress Committee to mark the birth anniversary of former PM Rajiv Gandhi.
Cuncolim Block Congress President Assiz Noronha welcoming the gathering said that every youth should read about Rajiv Gandhi which will surely help them in building their careers. Mahila Block President Sonia Fernandes said that Rajiv Gandhi always worked to empower women. Youth Congress President Saikunj Dessai proposed vote of thanks.
Chairperson of Cuncolim Municipal Council Dr Laxman Naik, Vice Chairperson Anthony Vaz, councillors Gauri Dessai, Raimundo D’Souza, Landry Mascarenhas, Jamira Peres, Uddesh Bhiku Naik Dessai, ex-councillors Oscar Gracias, Shaurito Fernandes, Gino Pereira and other Congress functionaries were also present.
Meanwhile, South Goa district Congress president Joseph Dias lauded the initiatives of the former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi on various fronts. He said Rajiv Gandhi was instrumental in giving Goa the much-required Statehood and placing our language Konkani in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution of India. Ethel Lobo, SGDCC General Secretary led the congregation to take the Sadbhavna pledge.
