Rao says no outside candidate to be forced on Canacona

CANACONA

Stating that Canacona has a Congress base of 9,000 voters, AICC General Secretary and Goa Desk Incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao assured that only a local and loyal party worker would be allotted the party ticket to contest the forthcoming assembly elections in the Canacona constituency.

Addressing the Canacona Block Congress, Rao said no outsider nor non-member would be forced on the people of Canacona.

“Before allotting the party ticket, we will consider loyalty to party, credibility, profile, winnability and how the people’s perception of the particular candidate,” said Rao at a news conference in Canacona. We will also conduct a survey in the constituency to get feedback of party workers and the electorate.”

Later addressing a news conference, Rao said none of the 10 MLAs who deserted the Congress to jump into the BJP would ever get the Congress ticket again.

When asked if some of these 10 MLAs can still be considered for the Congress ticket if they have the winnability factor, Rao shot back: “Never. Betraying the party and voters will never be accepted.”
