The Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh Goa on Saturday met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and submitted a memorandum regarding reservation to students for post graduate courses at Goa Medical College and other demandsA delegation of Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh led by its president Madhu Naik submitted the memorandum in the presence of Shiroda MLA Subhash Shirodkar.
"CM Sawant gave us a patient hearing and assured that our demands would be considered,” said Naik.
There is a demand from the Mahasangh that the government should immediately frame rules for the reservation for OBC, ST, and SC students for Post Graduate courses at GMC from the current academic year 2021-22 as the course will commence soon.
The Mahasangh has demanded that there should be 2 percent seats reserved for SC students, 12 per cent for ST and 27 per cent for OBC in the PG courses.
Mahasangh also demanded to extend the date for application for online OBC scholarship.
There was also a demand to create an OBC Council in the State.
Mahasangh has demanded a separate budget head for OBC with a 27 per cent budget for the development of other backward communities.
Mahasangh has pressed for a separate census to find out the exact OBC population in the State, to ensure that schemes and reservation quota can be revised and updated.
The Mahasangh also demanded that the Eklavya Coaching scheme be applicable to OBC, SC and EWS.
