Naik was addressing about 30 affected liquor licence holders from Ponda on Tuesday, when they called on him to seek his support.
Speaking to The Goan, Naik said the government should issue an ordinance and amend the law in regards to roads. “I will definitely support the government’s move if it intends to save this business,” he said.
“It is very easy to save this business. The government should understand that this business is directly related to tourism. The tourism business will collapse if this trade is not saved,” Naik pointed out.
Naik demanded that the State highway from Ponda post office to Sanguem be de-notified, so a number of bars and retailers are saved from the SC order. “The government can do this very easily,” he added.
