Ravindra Bhavan may host shows from November

There’s good news in store for tiatr lovers from Salcete and beyond. Renovation and repair work on the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao is progressing at the scheduled pace and may be finally thrown up for public shows in the first week of November.

In fact, a review of the work of the Ravindra Bhavan by PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, Chairman Ravindra Bhavan, Rajendra Talak, BJP State Chief Damu Naik and others on Tuesday showed that the renovation on the main auditorium named after Pai Tiatrist is progressing satisfactorily.

The PWD appointed contractors were given October 30 deadline to complete all works on the main auditorium, which includes repair of the false ceiling, replacement of carpets and damaged chairs etc.

The PWD Minister told the media after the inspection that work on the false ceiling is almost complete. “The work of replacing the carpet and arranging the chairs will be started in the next 2-4 days. I am confident that the entire renovation work should be complete before the October 30 deadline, unless is some problem”, Kamat said, adding “If everything works as per the schedule, the Ravindra Bhavan will resume programmes from the first week of November.

Chairman Ravindra Bhavan, Rajendra Talak said that the renovation work on Ravindra Bhavan has been progressing as per the October 30 schedule. “I think all the agencies are complying with the deadline. We are only advising the agencies and the contractor. In this respect, we had set up a supervising panel to ensure better communication and coordination amongst the agencies. The system has indeed worked to ensure better coordination”, he added.

Talak said he has called for a meeting with the tiatrist followed by a meeting of the members of the Ravindra Bhavan committee headed by him to take a review of the ongong work. ‘Work on the false ceiling is almost ready. The auditorium will be ready in all respects within the deadline”, he said.

The Ravindra Bhavan Chairman said that work at the Ravindra Bhavan is being carried out simultaneously for the upcoming IFFI festival.
