The Goa Forest Department in association with International Union for Conservation of Nature and an NGO Terra Conscious and supported by Drishti Lifeguard association had organised a series of half-day workshop on June 28 and June 29, 2017, on Marine mammal stranding response in Goa with the main objective of rescue and handling of carcass.

PANAJI: rOver 140 lifeguards and 50 forest guard were provided hands-on training based on globally accepted protocols to handle stranded marine cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises).
Coastal security police personnel will now be given the same level of training as the lifeguards manning the State’s 105-km long coastline with Drishti Lifesaving, the State-appointed lifeguarding agency tasked with a training programme on rescues for a batch of 130 Coastal Security Police personnel.
