Cumbarjua's Congress MLA Pandurang Madkaikar and Independent MLA Naresh Sawal were invited for talks by PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar at his Altinho residence on Sunday, even as reports indicated that the MGP was keen on rope in the duo ahead of the Assembly elections in the State.

Yes, we were summoned and both of us have put forth our proposals, disclosed Madkaikar. When The Goan sought to know if he was ready to switch over to MGP, Madkaikar sounded positive. "I am ready as I am not happy the way things are going on in the Congress, but for me to join MGP, my proposal to Dhavalikar has to be first accepted by their party leaders," he said. Sawal has also put up his terms before Dhavalikar, he added.

Dhavalikar had detailed discussions with both legislators, but stuck to his stand that he will take decisions on the candidates for elections only after October 4.

Meanwhile, Dhavalikar earlier in the day, stated that he is ready to support Sawal in the elections if the MGP-BJP alliance ticket is allotted to the Bicholim MLA after he joins MGP.

Dhavalikar was speaking at a brief meeting convened at tourist hostel Mayem between him and Sawal along with his around 300 supporters on Sunday afternoon.

Dhavalikar also stressed the need to expand the work of MGP to create faith among the people.

During the meeting, Sawal’s supporters sought to know from Dhavalikar what would Sawal's position be if he joins MGP.

When the supporters asked for more details, the minister said he was ready to hold detailed talks but only after Pitru Paksha period gets over on October 4.
