REDEVELOPMENT OF ALDONA MARKET: Ticlo hits out at Aldona MLA for claiming credit

The redevelopment of Aldona market complex may have been approved by the State government, the credit for getting the project approved is now being contested by political leaders.

Earlier this month, Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira had announced the government’s in-principle approval for the long-awaited redevelopment of the market complex in Aldona.

On Saturday, former MLA Glen Ticlo hit out at Ferreira for attempting to take credit for getting the project approved by the government.

Addressing a news conference in the presence of Aldona Panchayat members Manisha Naik, Frankie Carvalho, Sunil Khade, Carl D’Souza and George D’Souza, Ticlo insisted that the project had been approved during his tenure as MLA.

“During my tenure, only the NOC from the Aldona Panchayat was remaining for this project. Due to the Covid pandemic and later, the 2022 assembly elections, we did not get the NOC from the panchayat,” claimed Tiklo while displaying RTI documents to prove his point.

“Adv Ferreira became Aldona MLA and delayed the launch of the project as he wanted his own note on the project file. He played this dirty politics to get credit and fame for the redevelopment of the Aldona market,” claimed Ticlo.

Ticlo further accused the Aldona MLA of delayibg the project for the past two years.

“Presently, the condition of the Aldona market is very pathetic and the possibility of an accident cannot be ruled out. The collector should take the initiative and seal this market,” he said.

“Adv Ferreira continues to lie to the public and mislead the people. The Congress party is a sinking ship and still cannot find candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The Aldona MLA should take care of his own party instead of advising the BJP government and the chief minister,” Ticlo added.
