Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco on Thursday has asked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant whether the government has taken any action to initiate the process of granting fresh leases so as to restart mining as per the directions of the Supreme Court.

Referring to the recent report that the review petition filed in the Supreme Court on mining ban is bogus, Reginaldo demanded to know whether the Supreme Court will allow a review petition filed after a delay of one year and half since the Supreme Court had passed the order on February 7, 2018.

“The people of Goa and especially the mining dependents are keen to know whether such a review filed by the Goa government in the apex court holds any relevance after such a long delay,” he said, seeking to know whether any action has been taken by the government on the directions of the Supreme Court to initiate the process of granting fresh leases so as to restart mining.
