Reginaldo urges CM to arrange special train to Vailankanni

MARGAO

Curtorim Independent MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to arrange a special train to Velankanni for the Feast of Our Lady of Vailankani celebrated on August 29 and culminating on September 8.
In his letter, the Curtorim MLA drew the attention of the CM to the messages received by him from his constituents and worshipers from other parts of Goa with a plea to request the Goa government to arrange a special train for Velankanni also revered as Our Lady of Good Health for the forthcoming Novenas.
“The devotees are making strong demand for the special train to venerable Velankanni as they want to participate in the Novenas and also in the said Feast for the year 2022. Importantly, in this context, I also feel it is the most appropriate moment to commence your government’s flagship scheme Mukhyamantri Dev Darshan Yatra Yojana for the senior citizens as they will get a one-time free opportunity to visit sacred holy places outside Goa,” Reginaldo said.

Had written to railway authorities about direct train: Churchill
MARGAO: Former PWD Minister Churchill Alemao has said that he had written to the Railway authorities to ensure that the Vasco-Vailankani train culminates at Vailankani.
He told the media that he had reminded the railway authorities that he had first made the demand for a direct train from Vasco to Vailankani for the benefit of thousands of pilgrims from Goa when the late Ram Vilas Paswan was the Union Railway Minister. “I told the railway officials to explain to me how come the Vasco-Vailankani is terminated at Nagapattinam instead of Vailankani,” he said, saying he had threatened to take up the matter with the Union Railway minister.
Churchill said the railway officials have got back to him now saying the train from Vasco to Vailankani was terminated all this time because of infrastructure work, adding that the train service has now been restored to Vailankani.
