Santa Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes has said the issue of fruit vendors will be resolved first followed by the kiosk owners outside the GMC hospital complex.
Continuing with their attempts for rehabilitation of the displaced kiosk owners and fruit vendors, the two MLAs, Tony Fernandes and Francisco Silveira, held a meeting with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday.
They were accompanied by a delegation of the affected kiosk owners and panchas.
When contacted, MLA Fernandes told The Goan that the Chief Minister has assured rehabilitation of the displaced fruit vendors as well as the kiosk owners.
“The issue of fruit vendors will be resolved first, followed by the kiosk owners. On Monday, the rehabilitation of fruit vendors will be taken up first and then the rehabilitation of kiosk owners will be taken up,” he said. “The fruit vendors are likely to be provided space near the temple.”
A kiosk owner, Domnic Pereira, said the Chief Minister has assured to resolve their issue of rehabilitation within eight days from Monday.
“On Monday, the fruit vendors will be rehabilitated near the temple. The Chief Minister has assured that eight days later, solution for rehabilitation of the kiosk owners will be worked out. The Chief Minister has said only those who have been displaced will be rehabilitated,” Pereira added.
