Requesting officials of various departments to respect panchas and to consider their development works, Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte told officials to provide emergency services to all nine panchayats in Mandrem constituency.
He also asked the officials to ensure proper electricity and water supply, while completing pending works.
He was speaking at a meeting of officials, sarpanchas and some locals at the government guest house at Pernem.
Residents present at the meeting put forth their suggestions before the MLA and Sopte directed the officials to consider their demands.
Issues like cleaning of sewers, chopping of branches over electricity wires and repairs to potholed roads were discussed in the meeting.
Arambol Sarpanch Anant Gadekar said a mobile company had dug up roads to lay underground cables, but authorities had failed to repair the roads after cables were laid.
“The issue has been completely ignored and potholes have appeared. Arambol panchayat had given permission to the company after PWD (road division) had given its NoC,” he said.
The MLA directed PWD officials to look into the matter and repair the potholes.
Complaining that the renovated Khajan-Gundo sluice gate at Agarwaddo had brought a bad name after some youth were found drinking at the spot and couples were seen late at night, a resident requested police to patrol the area.
Sopte then directed electricity officials to shut off power supply to the Khajan-Gundo after 9.30 pm and also told police to patrol the site. Anand Shirgaonkar demanded an enquiry into frequent power cuts in Keri-Pernem.
