After IFFI, Marathi film festival and the Bulbul Children’s International Film Festival, which was inaugurated at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, on Tuesday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced that Goa will soon play host to a Konkani film festival in the State.
The Chief Minister further announced that the revised financial support scheme for Goan filmmakers will be soon unveiled by the government.
After inaugurating the Bulbul Children’s International Film Festival, the Chief Minister announced the Children’s International Film Festival will be an annual event in Margao.
Inaugurating the festival in the presence of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar, former MLA Damu Naik, Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan Rajendra Talak, MMC Chairperson Damu Shirodkar and others, the Chief Minister said the exclusive Konkani film festival will help take Konkani language across the world.
Sawant made a fervent plea not only to the children to enjoy the film festival, but also requested the parents to watch the films and participate in the workshops to learn skills in parenting.
“Through films, you can get to learn innovative technology. Every film teaches us not only entertainment, but to take film as a career,” he added.
In his address, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said the Bulbul Children’s International Film Festival will become an annual event in Margao in the coming years. “I and former MLA Damu Naik made a forceful plea to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that the Bulbul Children’s International Film Festival should be held at Margao since all major festivities are taking place in the State capital,” he said, while thanking the Chief Minister for accepting the suggestion to hold the festival in Margao.
