PANAJI

Unveiling its foray into State politics, Revolutionary Goans on Sunday announced that the organization will contest the ensuing elections to the State Assembly under the banner of Goa Su-Raj Party.

The announcement was made at a massive meeting held at Azad Maidan, Panaji.

Disclosing details, Revolutionary Goans Chief Manoj Parab in an emotional speech however said that his organization will still remain as ‘RG’.

Pushing for the platform of Goa for Goans, Parab said RG will put up candidates in all forty constituencies. “There is no chance of any alliance with any political party”, he said.

"Our party’s name may be different but the passion, zeal, commitment, dedication, honesty, integrity of Revolutionaries will remain the same as it was before", he said.

Braving the thunderstorm and the rains, Parab said, RG needed a political party and a single symbol to contest the forthcoming elections and as a result decided to go ahead with Goa Su-Raj party.

Revolutionary Goans had applied to the Election Commission to be registered as a political party in February 2021. But even after 7 months of filing the application to chief electoral officer, New Delhi, the formalities for the registration were not complete, he said.

Claiming that there were artificial hindrances in the registration process, Parab said some people were working to block the process.

“BJP tried their best to tarnish our image and destroy us but we have emerged stronger. They should quit playing games as they will not be able to stop this revolution. Nothing can stop us from bringing Goa back into the hands of the Goans,” he said.

“No matter what path we walk down, God is one step ahead. He's laying out our path and preparing our steps. In fact, now we will work even harder to win the 2022 elections,” he added.

Stating that the arrangement with Goa Su-Raj Party was not a seat sharing adjustment or tie-up or any compromise or setting, Parab said candidates for the constituencies would be announced in a phase-wise manner.

Appealing to all his teammates to work hard for the next three months, he said the existence of Goa was at a crucial stage.

Revolutionary Goans leader, Viresh Borkar pointed out that this election would be a fight for existence and identity. The time has come to free Goa from the various political parties that have ruled here since Independence.

Earlier, Goa Su-Raj Party founding president Floriano Lobo handed over the burning torch (mashal) baton to Parab to officially announce the handing over party symbol to RG.
