PANAJI: The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has launched a statewide membership drive and appealed to people to financially support the party, while announcing the restructuring of its organisational setup ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, RGP MLA Viresh Borkar said the party had completed a series of meetings with its members and formed its State Committee and District Committees across all three districts. Five Block Committees have also been constituted, while meetings for the remaining blocks are underway. The party has also released its official list of spokespersons.
RGP president Shavina Naik Shirodkar described RGP as “the strongest and most trusted regional party in Goa” and said the party would intensify its village-level outreach through its district and block committees. “People supported RGP in 2022 and gave us representation in the Legislative Assembly. Over the past five years, ground-level work by RGP has built immense public faith that RGP brings genuine change and keeps raising a strong voice in the Assembly,” she said.
Party treasurer Candido Correa said anyone above 18 years of age who aligns with the party’s ideology and is not associated with any other political party can become a member. The membership fee has been fixed at ₹5, with enrolment available online and through local committee teams.
RGP also appealed for public donations to support its activities and preparations for the 2027 elections. The party said contributions could be made directly to its official HDFC Bank account. The account details released by the party are Account No. 50200064903643 and IFSC Code HDFC000373. Borkar said the existing QR codes and account details would remain unchanged.
Describing RGP as a “crowd-funded people's party”, Borkar said the party relied on public contributions to sustain its activities.
Borkar also announced that the party’s new official website, revolutionaryparty.org, would go live around midnight. He said the website would provide details of the party’s committees, contact information and an online membership facility.
He said the party was making its financial information available to the public. “We are making our party account details public. There is nothing to hide regarding our accounts,” Borkar said. According to Borkar, official donations are accepted through legal online transactions, while complete financial reports will be presented at the party’s General Body meetings.
Responding to questions about the party’s finances, Borkar referred to allegations of unauthorised transactions and misuse of power by certain former office bearers. He said the party’s Disciplinary Committee had conducted an inquiry and that those found responsible had been terminated or expelled.
He added that detailed figures relating to the alleged financial irregularities would be disclosed once the party received the final report from its Chartered Accountant. Borkar also rejected reports of a split within RGP and asserted that the party’s official election symbol remains the football.
He alleged that attempts were being made to create confusion within the party and spread misinformation among the public. “We dismiss all baseless rumours regarding party splits or alignments with other parties. RGP continues to fight strongly on the ground across all villages,” Borkar said.
